港島西區小學校際籃球比賽於18-3-2016假石塘咀室內運動場順利完成，感謝天父帶領及保守男子籃球校隊勇奪冠軍，而 (6信) 文樂天及 (6愛) 文頌天 更獲得傑出運動員獎，恭喜各位獲獎同學。

STEPHEN VAUGHAN THOMAS
I was born and brought up in Wales, UK. When I was 18 I went to a teacher training college. From the age of 11 onwards I worked part-time, right through secondary school and after leaving college I worked full time in a hotel as a waiter and barman, was a lorry loader and a forklift truck driver. However, this all came to end when my father thought it might be a good idea to use my qualifications and I started my teaching career in London in 1977. After 4 and a half years I applied to the English Schools Foundation in HK and I was accepted in 1982 and I worked for the ESF for 25 years. In 2007 I decided to have a change and I became a Government NET in 2 local schools for 6 years, leaving because of my age. I then worked part-time and I have taught students privately, taken after school classes and I have also helped out friends in various schools. I am definitely in the ‘twilight’ zone of my teaching career and I really want to help the students and teachers as much as possible during my time in Kau Yan.
I love movies, music, reading and sport. My wife and I adopted a HK girl 9 and a half years ago and she goes to Glenealy school (ESF). I go to the gym regularly and I take my daughter swimming on a regular basis. I have passed Grade 8 on the piano but I still have piano lessons every week.

Thank God for leading me to KYS! The greatest love of all – God’s everlasting and never-changing love. I believe the children are our future. Every child is unique and has the potential to bring something special to the world. Education is so powerful so I would like to make use of this POWER to help our studentsgrow and develop their potential to the fullest, based on biblical and moral values.
Passionate and Professional – motivated by the mission and vision, I look forward to the challenges!
Open -mindedness – we should develop children’s creativity and critical thinking in place of spoon-fed education.
Whole-person development – help students grow and mature in the aspects of spiritual development, moral values, intellect, physical development, social skills and aesthetics.
Evaluation by teachers, students and parents – it always helps improvement for curriculum and assessment adjustment in order to suit every student.
Reinforcement – using positive languages to encourage children to speak and read more. Once they enjoy learning English intrinsically, they can self-learn and explore the knowledgeable world.

還記得當年在教育學院面試的時候，老師問我為什麼要當老師?我說:當老師能夠教出一個好人，比起在社會上捉一個壞人更有意義。反觀今天香港的轉變及世界的動盪，我更要把這話持守。
過去的日子曾到外面工作，我更加肯定自己對教育的方向與堅持，我明白到能夠燃點學生的學習興趣，引發他們不斷學習，比起在考試分數上不斷的追求更加有實在。我很高興能夠再一次踏進救恩學校，亦感恩過往有神的帶領，期待與大家一起學習、一起成長。

蒙主的感召，我加入了「救恩」這個大家庭。我是一位願意與小朋友同行及成長的老師。在過去六年的教學生涯當中，我都會用心聆聽孩子，了解他們的需要，積極以正向關懷陪伴孩子走成長的路。未來，讓我繼續學習以基督的樣式愛人如己，讓我得著智慧「教養孩童，使他走當行的道，就是到老他也不偏離。」 (箴言二十二章六節)。感謝主!

I have always dreamed of teaching in a school that is characterized by a strong Christian community, where students not only learn academically, but also grow spiritually.
I thank God for leading me to this school and giving me the opportunity to work with highly dedicated teachers who are willing to provide the best possible to all students.
Although academic results are still important, it is my prayer that students will learn to love God, love their neighbors, and find their visions in God in this school.

我常想學生能夠早點遇到一位啟發他們的老師，他們的將來會變得更美好。所以我下定決心要成為一名小學老師，給孩子樹立榜樣，使他們從小就學會敬神愛人、尊重和感激他人，對自己的事情負責任，保持內心正直、誠實、樂觀和積極。我認為塑造良好的品格比任何事情都來得重要，因為這令孩子一生受用，讓孩子能迎接未來，走在正確的道路上。今年在上帝的帶領下，加入救恩這個大家庭，希望能以生命影響生命，使孩子成為上帝的精兵。

想到今年在救恩學校工作已踏入第17個年頭，心裡只感到無限的感恩。 在這十多個年頭裡，十分感受天父對我及每一位「救恩人」的看顧和祝福。回想起初到救恩學校工作的時候，有機會看到救恩學校的校刊，內裡的黑白照片介紹了學校的種種發展與經過；亦看到當中有很多僕人被神所揀選及使用，神的事工就是這樣得以成就。主的大愛，真是何等的長闊高深。衪的恩典眷顧著歷年的校長、老師、助理、學生、家長及整個中西區的地方。衪的愛就是這樣豐豐足足的供應我們每一日。多年來有許多的事情轉眼便過去，唯有神的慈愛永遠長存。有機會於救恩學校事奉，實感到萬分榮幸，願神的愛繼續光照我們，榮耀全歸於衪。
